Nepal Tourism Board has started branding Nepal’s tourist destinations. The board has started it from Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. The board has started the work of ‘branding’ Lumbini by combining the art, culture and diversity of Lumbini and plans to continue branding other destinations as well.

Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Board, informed that the branding was started realizing the need for branding of tourist destinations to understand the destination in a simple and clear manner. “Any tourist destination has its own identity, its own characteristics. Branding by incorporating these features will help Lumbini to become an attractive destination and be recognized nationally and internationally. We have tried this. Gradually, other destinations will also be branded, ”he said. He said that branding for the first time covering all aspects of Lumbini would lead to new thinking to develop other destinations accordingly.

Lumbini is branded as a combination of Japanese architect Kenzo Tange’s architect, Brahmi script, Burmese font and the sacred garden. Including the natural beauty of Lumbini, the resounding atmosphere of Om Mane Padme Hum, the curly hair of Prince Siddhartha, the beautiful ancient city and the Bodhi tree are combined in the branding. Similarly, Lumbini’s topography map, natural beauty, pond, Ashoka pillar and birds, ancient architects, forests, flora, traditions and beautiful environment have been given a place in the ‘branding’, the board said.

According to the board, various colors of chibar worn by monks and nuns have been used in the branding work. After branding, the same message will flow from the books, brochures, bags and audio-visual materials published from there. There is also branding for cards, postcards, posters and banners. What color script and logo to use will also be mentioned. Types of branding have been prepared to suit every tourism promotion activity here. Nepal had branded the entire country by creating a brand called Naturally Nepal. Like Nepal, Thailand has been branding its country with themes like Imaging Thailand, India is Incredible India, Malaysia is Malaysia is really Asia.

This time, Lumbini, one of the tourist destinations of Nepal, has been branded with colors, names and logos to make it known in the international arena. According to the board, the branding has been made public by Kathmandu-based art and Design Company Corps and Colors after conducting research at Buddhasthal Lumbini, Tilaurakot, Devdaha and Ramgram. The board is also working on branding of Kirtipur and Pokhara. Lumbini is one of the major tourist destinations in Nepal. More than 1.6 million indigenous, about 200,000 third country and about 200,000 Indian tourists visit here annually.
